Ooredoo Tunisia is taking significant steps to expand its network capabilities and ensure its readiness for future technological developments. With continued investment in advanced infrastructure, the company is poised to deliver high-speed and reliable connectivity, enabling the deployment of 5G networks in fixed and mobile services, as well as fiber, supporting Tunisia’s digital transformation and economic growth.
The network’s backbone infrastructure is robust and modern, equipped with various redundancy mechanisms to strengthen resilience and support the future integration of next-generation technologies once the licenses to activate the 5G network are granted by the Ministry of Communications Technologies.
Network coverage rates confirm Ooredoo’s commitment to connectivity, with population coverage reaching over 99% for the 3G network and over 98% for the 4G network from September 2024.
Ooredoo was also the first operator in Tunisia to deploy a fixed wireless access (FWA) network in 2017, and this infrastructure is currently being updated with the latest technologies to meet future network requirements.
In addition, Ooredoo’s transport infrastructure offers high capacity and flexibility, capable of supporting different levels of transport and applications to meet the growing demands of the network.
Internationally, the network has a capacity of 800 gigabytes per second, provided by three separate submarine cables connecting Tunisia to Europe, with the ability to expand to more than 10 terabytes per second for full flexibility.
In line with its commitment to innovation, Ooredoo Tunisia has conducted extensive trials to increase network performance and has equipped its infrastructure with the latest technologies to accommodate future enhancements.
This strategic investment is in line with the company’s vision to improve connectivity for businesses, support startups and promote digital inclusion in urban and rural areas.
In addition, Ooredoo Tunisia has organized training and skills development sessions to prepare internal teams for the launch of this new technology.
Ooredoo Tunisia has also strengthened data protection, which is a top priority for telephony operators with the launch of 5G, as cybersecurity is a fundamental challenge for the state.
As part of its forward-looking vision to prepare the market for this new generation of services, Ooredoo Tunisia began marketing 5G-compatible mobile phones almost three years ago.
Mansoor Rashid Al-Khater, CEO of Ooredoo Tunisia, expressed his confidence in the company’s preparations: “We are proud of the steps we have taken to expand and modernize our network.
These efforts will not only improve the quality of service for our customers, but will also contribute significantly to the growth of the Tunisian economy. Our aim is to play a key role in Tunisia’s digital transformation by providing businesses and individuals with access to the latest technological innovations.
Ooredoo Tunisia remains committed to providing its users with unrivalled connectivity and strengthening its role as a driving force for Tunisia’s digital future.
