Prime Minister meets with Secretary General of AfCFTA

Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani met on Monday at the Kasbah with Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Wamkele Mene.

He highlighted the efforts made by Mene to successfully establish this African free trade zone, a decision he described as “strategic” for greater economic integration between the countries of the continent, according to a statement from the Prime Ministry.

The Prime Minister also spoke of the progress made following the completion of the first and second stages of the agreement with Tunisia, reiterating that “Tunisia is a gateway to European markets for African countries and a portal to African markets for the countries of the northern Mediterranean”.

“The African Free Trade Area is an opportunity to reorganise value chains that can strengthen intra-African cooperation and promote sustainable development in African countries,” said Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA.

He welcomed Tunisia’s commitment to the objectives of the AfCFTA through the implementation of the signed agreements, highlighting the key role it has played in the region’s Economic Corridor project.
