The 7th edition of the international conference “FINANCING INVESTMENT & TRADE in AFRICA – FITA2024,” centred on the financing of investment and trade in Africa, is slated for June 11-12 in Tunis, under the theme: “Strengthening local transformation and technology transfer for sustainable and inclusive growth in Africa.”
This initiative is spearheaded by the Tunisia-Africa Business Council (TABC).
Approximately 1,000 participants from 65 African and European countries are expected in this business event, represented by high-level delegations of senior executives from economic enterprises, banks, and continental and regional financial institutions.
“This major economic event aims to establish a forum for sharing views and experiences across the African continent, with a view to further fostering relations between African countries and forging strong partnerships,” TABC President Anis Jaziri told TAP.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Poland will be the guests of honour at the “FITA 2024” conference, with large delegations and the expected participation of Poland’s deputy foreign minister and another DRC government official.
Other African countries will also take part in the event for the first time, such as Uganda, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and South Korea, in a bid to encourage triangular cooperation with Africa, in addition to the presence of large delegations of senior officials and businessmen, he indicated.
The 7th edition of the FITA conference will also see the participation of six heads of agencies for foreign investment promotion in Africa, with the aim of expanding bilateral relations and investment, as well as trade, the official said.
Many international and continental financial institutions, including the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) are also expected to attend, especially as these institutions can provide the funds needed to boost investment in the continent and develop industry in Africa.
One of the most important objectives of “FITA 2024” is to draw attention to Tunisia’s experience in the industrial field since the 1970s, notably in terms of industrial restructuring and its success with export to the European Union.
Tunisia has the potential to be an industrial platform for African countries thanks to its experience in many legislative and logistical aspects of the industry field,” said Anis Jaziri.
The programme for the event includes dialogue sessions and workshops hosted by a group of specialists and managers from a number of African companies and businesses.
