Tunisia: 35,000 cars sold in 8 months!

35,000 cars were sold in the first eight months of 2024, two thousand less than in the same period in 2023, said Mahdi Mahjoub, a member of the executive committee of the National Chamber of Car Dealers.

He added on Mosaïque FM that new cars accounted for only 71% of this figure.

Moreover, the marketing of electric cars remains slow, given the total number of vehicles registered. 70 electric cars were sold as of August 31, compared to only 20 in 2023.

These figures are below expectations, but the number of rechargeable hybrid cars sold in the last two years (2000) is an encouraging indicator,’ he added.

He added: ‘It is true that electric cars are still more expensive than combustion engines, but these vehicles offer their owners a number of fiscal and financial benefits, including tax exemptions, much lower maintenance costs and less noise pollution.
