Tunisia: 75% of energy used for air conditioning (ANME)

Around 75% of the electricity consumed during the summer is used for air conditioning, according to data published on Monday by the National Energy Management Agency (ANME).

The agency pointed out that raising the air conditioning temperature from 22°C to 26°C would maintain adequate cooling while reducing energy consumption by up to 30%.

It also pointed out that almost 70% of heat in homes escapes through walls and ceilings, with the rest entering through windows and ventilation openings.

The agency stressed the importance of thermal insulation, which limits heat loss, improves home comfort and reduces energy costs for air conditioning by 40%.
