Tunisia-Burkina Faso Business Forum kicks off in Ouagadougou

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar and Minister of Industrial Development, Trade, Handicraft and Small and Medium Enterprises of Burkina Faso, Serge Poda, opened the Tunisian-Burkinabe Business Forum on Monday in the Burkinabe capital, Ouagadougou, in the presence of a delegation of ten Tunisian businessmen led by Samir Majoul, President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, and 90 Burkinabe businessmen, as well as a group of 90 Burkinabe businessmen.

The Minister stressed that the organisation of this forum reflected the willingness of economic operators in the two countries to explore new opportunities for cooperation in vital sectors such as energy, communication technologies and tourism, and to benefit from the advantages offered by the accession of the two countries to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

He noted that the aim of the forum is to give a new impetus to the pace of cooperation, allowing the establishment of a win-win partnership.

Nabil Ammar added that Tunisia, which is keen to promote South-South cooperation, is keen to raise economic relations with Burkina Faso to the highest level on the basis of mutual benefit, convinced of the importance of this cooperation in meeting the challenges of peace, security and development, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He also stressed the Tunisian government’s desire to promote and facilitate trade between the two countries and to create a favourable climate for investment by simplifying administrative procedures.

He called on businessmen in both countries to take advantage of this event to forge strong partnerships and invest in innovative projects that will contribute to the prosperity of both countries.

During the forum, bilateral B2B meetings were organised between business actors from the two countries and a cooperation agreement was signed between UTICA and the Burkina National Employers’ Council, which will establish fruitful future cooperation for the benefit of both sides.

The forum was attended by a number of Tunisian economic operators representing the following sectors: contracting and megaprojects, health, tourism, industry, communication technologies and the export of health services.
