A workshop was held at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Customs at the Centre Urbain Nord on Friday, December 13, to launch the “binding information” web application and conclude the “implementation of the binding information mechanism in Tunisia” project.
The event was attended by key figures including Lamia Abroug, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Trade and Export Development, Mohamed Hedi Safer, Director General of Customs, and senior officials from the Ministry and the Directorate General of Customs. Amal Meghirbi, Team Leader of the Support for Trade Agreements with Africa (AACA) project, was also present.
The aim of the workshop was to mark the launch of the web application of the Binding Information Mechanism, an essential tool for economic operators, and to highlight the achievements of the project.
During the workshop, the participants discovered the results of the project, which are structured around four main strands:
-Technical support: Legal, procedural and organizational support.
– Capacity building: Training for heads of customs directorates-general in cooperation with the WCO-EU program.
– Awareness-raising: Targeted actions for Tunisian economic operators.
– Digitization: Development of an innovative web application to manage the entire process, from the submission of requests to the issue of binding information.
A live demonstration of the use of this application was given, showing its simplicity and effectiveness for users, as well as its impact on the digitalization and modernization of the Tunisian customs services.
These activities were organized as part of the “Implementation of the Binding Information Mechanism at Customs” project, part of the “Support for Trade Agreements with Africa” project, in partnership with the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF), in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Export Development and the General Directorate of Customs.
