The number of cars registered in Tunisia exceeds two million, President of the National Chamber of Automobile Dealers Brahim Debbeche told Mosaïque FM Monday.
He added that more than 50% of cars in circulation are over ten-year-old and that some vehicles have even exceeded fifteen years and have become a financial burden for their owners.
“Aging cars consume more fuel and require more spare parts,” he said.
Debbeche called for a new fiscal policy to allow citizens to renew their cars, especially after the price hike and the drop in purchasing power.
