Latest data published by the Central Bank of Tunisia on Tuesday show a significant increase in the number of payment transactions by “bills of exchange” (drafts), which rose by 0.7% to 1.3 million transactions, representing a value of 25,087.8 million dinars. At the same time, payments by cheque fell, with 18.52 million transactions worth 95,616.86 million dinars”.
These are the words of Azza Bounattouf, Chief Financial Officer of the ATD Group, in her latest post on the professional social network LinkedIn.
According to the same source, which refers to the bulletin “Payments in figures in Tunisia” published by the Central Bank, “the rejection rate for payments by bill of exchange and cheque also increased by 8.11% and 2.43% respectively in terms of value and by 10.95% and 1.47% in terms of number during the first nine months of 2024”.
