The unemployment rate in Tunisia fell slightly by 0.2% in the second quarter of this year compared with the statistics for the first quarter, according to employment statistics published on Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The INS estimated the unemployment rate at 16% in the second quarter of this year, compared with 16.2% in the first quarter of the same year.
The number of unemployed fell to 661,700 in the second quarter of this year, compared with 669,300 in the first quarter.
The unemployment rate for men was 13.6% in the first and second quarters of 2024, while the unemployment rate for women fell to 21.3% in the second quarter of 2024, compared with 22% in the first quarter of the same year.
The unemployment rate for tertiary educated people falls from 23.4% in the first quarter of 2024 to 23% in the second quarter of 2024, with a difference between men and women with tertiary education of 13.4% for men and 30.6% for women.
The unemployment rate for young people aged 15-24 rose to 41% in the second quarter of 2024, compared with 39.2% in the first quarter of the same year.
