Senegal’s President Macky Sall Tuesday inaugurated a road that links Saint-Louis in the northern part of the country to Rosso, the river border with Mauritania.
The road, which cost over 36 billion CFA Franc (US$74.9 million) to rehabilitate, was financed by the European Union (EU).
The rehabilitation of the 127-km of road is aimed at opening up several areas in Senegal.
President Sall has kick-started a vast road infrastructure programme under his infrastructure policy.
Under the programme, the existing road network will be rehabilitated and expanded to service remote areas and improve transportation.
