Prime Minister Elyès Fakhfakh on Wednesday urged banking institutions to increase efforts to alleviate debt.
During a videoconference meeting with the governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) and Tunisian bank directors, he stressed the need to speed up the examination of bank loan applications and to reschedule credits to support businesses during this difficult economic situation, the Prime Ministry said in a statement.
During this meeting devoted to the impact of COVID-19 on the banking sector, the PM stressed the need to give priority to the financing and promotion of productive projects to the detriment of short-term investments.
