The Congolese government and Ericsson have signed an agreement in Brazzaville to spur the development of the Information and communications technology sector in Congo, the Department of Posts, Telecommunications and New communication technologies said here Tuesday.
Ericsson is committed, as operator, to support the Congolese government in its ambition to become a digital hub for Central Africa, through the development projects of the E-Government and E-Education, targeted by the company.
“We see great potential in this country and we are exploring various opportunities where technology could be a catalyst for growth and socio-economic development here,” said the director for relations with sub-Saharan governments, Shiletsi Makhofane.
To realize these projects, both parties have defined a structural framework in line with the government’s ambition, including revitalization of the School of Post, Telecommunications and ICT, as well as the creation of a Technology Park, where research and development activities in the information and communication technology field will take place
