Recent statistics about Kuwait’s population and manpower were issued by the Statistics Department at the Public Authority For Civil Information (PACI). The information showed that Kuwait’s total population at the end of December 2008 stood at 3,441,813. Of that figure, 1,087,000 were citizens while the remaining 2,354,261 were expatriates.
According to statistics, the total number of females numbered 1,290,481 while males numbered 2,151,232 out of the total population. On the other hand, the study showed that female citizens outnumbered male citizens. There are 554,985 female Kuwaiti citizens and 532,567 male Kuwaitis. Expatriate males stood at 1,618,765 while expatriate females numbered 735,496, Al-Qabas reported.
As far as governorates were concerned, statistics showed that Farwaniya was the most densely populated with 908,360 people. Hawally came second with 738,881 people and Ahmadi came third with 648,313 people. The capital came fourth with 502,099, Jahra fifth with 420,674 people and Mubarak Al-Kabeer came last with 210,475 people. Notably, the nationalities of around 13,011 people living in Kuwait were not determined. Statistics also showed that Ahmadi came first in terms of having a Kuwaiti majority living there, where 227,303 citizens live (112,313 males and 114,992 females).
