Sfax: Law on Chambers of Commerce will not be changed, but their number will be reduced (Minister)

“The elections of the chambers of commerce will take place in 2025,” said Minister of Trade and Export Development Kalthoum Ben Rejeb.

She added, as she presided over the opening of the 58th edition of the Sfax International Fair that “the law on chambers of commerce will not be changed, but their number will be reduced from 8 to 5 in order to be in line with the new territorial division and the new constitution”.

Regarding the legal framework for events and exhibitions, the Minister of Trade and Export Development stressed that “it will be developed, as it is an old law that has been regulated by a decree since 1994”.

In response to a question about the absence of foreign participants in the Sfax International Fair, she said that “foreign participants in such events and exhibitions are subject to joint agreements and reciprocity, as well as customs issues and the Central Bank”.

The minister pointed out that the state is “committed to promoting the national product by encouraging and supporting the organisation of these events and exhibitions”.

The Minister of Trade and Export Development visited the various pavilions of the Sfax International Fair, which is taking place from June 21 to July 7, with the participation of 176 exhibitors.
