The roadmap for the launch of the 5th generation (5G) technology in Tunisia and the creation of a committee tasked with ensuring preparations for granting licences to market the 5G service from 2025, were approved at a small cabinet meeting held on Thursday in La Kasbah.
Chairing this meeting, Premier Ahmed Hachani pointed to the need to work, within the framework of the 2022-2025 National Digitisation Strategy, to bring Tunisia up to the level of developed countries in the technology field by improving the infrastructure of the mobile communications network, attracting investment in this field and increasing investment opportunities in the various sectors.
On this occasion, Communication Technologies Minister Nizar Ben Neji provided an overview of the legislative framework for the granting of licences and the launch of 5G mobile network technologies, in addition to the measures for granting licences through a call for tenders.
The project aims to meet the growing needsfor faster speeds and better browsing quality.
The cabinet meeting was attended by Interior Minister Khaled Nouri and Finance Minister Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia.
