A press conference on the dissolution and liquidation of the Banque Franco-Tunisienne (BFT) was held at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) on Tuesday.
Governor of the BCT, Marouane EL ABASSI said that the net losses of the BFT are around 500 million dinars at the end of 2020.
He added that the outstanding deposits of the bank are at 20 million dinars while the outstanding debts are at 279 million dinars.
Regarding the BFT’s workforce, i.e. 72 people (67 of whom are under 50 years old), the President of the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions, Mohamed AGREBI pointed out that 80% of the BFT’s workforce will be integrated within 10 listed banks while the remaining 20% will integrate other financial institutions.
