Tunisia: Citrus exports surge by 41.4% in 2024/2025 Season

Citrus exports have increased by 41.4% from October 17, 2024, to January 30, 2025, reaching 3,300 tons compared to 2,334 tons during the same period in the previous season, according to data released on Friday by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI).

In terms of value, exports rose by 33.5%, totaling 11.147 million dinars (MD) compared to 8.344 MD during the same period last season.

From January 11 to 30, 2025, exports of Maltaise oranges reached 2,258 tons, with projections estimating the export of approximately 12,000 tons of this variety during the current season, according to ONAGRI data.

Citrus Harvest Increases by 5.2%

For the 2024/2025 season, the citrus harvest is estimated at 384,000 tons, up from 365,000 tons in the previous season, marking a 5.2% increase. This growth is primarily driven by higher production of clementines (+24.1%), Miski oranges (+11%), and Navel oranges (+5.2%).

According to the same source, the increase in citrus production was observed in most regions, particularly in the governorates of Nabeul (+1.8%), Ben Arous (+18.1%), Bizerte (+31.3%), and Beja (+28.6%).
