Tunisia: CONECT president calls for free bank cards

Aslan Berjeb, President of the Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises (CONECT), called for banking institutions to make bank cards available free of charge as a means of payment.

He told Mosaique FM that banks need to upgrade their technical infrastructure to facilitate banking integration, and suggested that insurance companies could play an important role in this process.

On another level, Aslan Berjeb, called for priority to be given to investment, which would require the amendment of certain legal texts, such as the Commercial Code, the Foreign Exchange Code and the Investment Code, as well as the introduction of a new model of sustainable development based on social inclusion.

He also pointed out that the maritime and film industries needed to be revitalized in order to boost exports.

Berjeb stressed the need for entrepreneurs to know the government’s strategy for boosting investment over the next ten years.
