Tunisia: COTUNACE sees its net profit fall by almost 20% in 2023

The Compagnie Tunisienne pour l’Assurance du Commerce Extérieur (COTUNACE) has published its financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2023, which will be submitted for approval to the Ordinary General Meeting to be held on June 25, 2024.

These financial statements show a net profit of 3.9 million dinars, compared with 4.7 million dinars a year earlier, a fall of around 19%.2023 was marked by a fall in written premiums of 7.1% to 12.8 million dinars. This decline was mainly due to a fall in insured exports.

This decline particularly affected premiums for extraordinary commercial risk, which fell from 2.6 million dinars to 1.6 million dinars, down 39.7%.

In addition, claims expenses rose to 6.6 million dinars, compared with 4.5 million dinars in 2022, mainly as a result of the reduction in recoveries from 2.6 million dinars to 0.8 million dinars.

Investments totaled 191.5 million dinars last year, compared with 183.6 million dinars in 2022, an increase of 4%.
