An initiative to upgrade Tunisia’s cybersecurity capabilities has just been launched by Reconnectt, the network of Tunisia’s elite abroad, under the name “Tunisia CyberShield.”
Bringing together some twenty Tunisian cybersecurity experts from a variety of backgrounds, including academic researchers, practitioners and start-ups, Tunisia CyberShield is a discussion forum and collaborative platform.
The goal is to harness and upgrade Tunisia’s capabilities in the cybersecurity field, says Reconnectt in a press release on Tuesday.
The network covers Europe and North America, in addition to local experts resident in Tunisia.
The launch of this initiative was announced at the inaugural meeting of Tunisia CyberShield, held remotely on June 13, the association said.
During this meeting, the members of Tunisia CyberShield discussed devising a roadmap covering the purpose of the network, its overall strategy and its short- and medium-term action plans.
Tunisia CyberShield will undertake an in-depth analysis of the current cybersecurity landscape in Tunisia, encompassing policies, regulations, infrastructures, skills, economic implications and alignment between scientific research and industrial practices, according to the press release.
The short- and long-term objectives include priorities to be set, key skills to be identified, a comprehensive action plan to be drawn up and the respective working groups to be set up.
Particular attention was paid to the impact of Artificial Intelligence on cybersecurity and to campaigns to raise awareness among citizens, decision-makers and stakeholders in the economic sector of the crucial role of cybersecurity, calling for the adoption of a clear national strategy.
