The energy trade deficit rose from TND 4,287 million at the end of June 2023 to TND 5,536 million at the end of June 2024, up 29% (taking into account the exported Algerian gas royalties).
According to the Energy Outlook June 2024 published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines, exports of energy products went up 3% in value, while imports rose by 22% in value.
The energy independence rate, which represents the ratio of primary energy resources to primary consumption, stood at 44% at the end of June 2024, compared with 52% at the end of June 2023, according to the document.
