A plane from London Airport landed at Djerba-Zarzis International Airport on Saturday with 147 tourists on board.
This is the first flight by three British operators after a 10-year break.
This flight will be followed by another scheduled flight from London, while the number of scheduled flights to Djerba-Zarzis International Airport will rise to four a week, two from London and two from Manchester.
For Hichem Mahouachi, regional delegate for tourism in Medenine, the return of the British market is particularly important during the winter season.
It should help promote the 2025 tourist season.
The number of tourists visiting Djerba-Zarzis is expected to reach one million.
In fact, from the beginning of the year to October 10, the region welcomed around 941,000 tourists who spent 5.6 million overnight stays.
The occupancy rate in September was over 90%.
The French market is in first place with 227,000 tourists, followed by the domestic market with 200,000 arrivals, the Polish market with 106,000 tourists and finally the German market, which is gradually recovering, with 92,000 tourists.
