Tunisia – GCT: phosphoric acid production declines 30%

The production of phosphoric acid plant’s units of the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) fell 30% during the last two days, Taoufik Jemal, director of the plant told TAP correspondent.

He expressed concern about a total suspension of production in the coming days due to phosphate stock shortage, which currently does not exceed 25,000 tons, he said.

The phosphate stock shortage at the phosphoric acid plant, which daily consumes 6,000 tons, is caused by problems in the production and transportation centers of this material.

The phosphoric acid plant has regained its normal pace in recent months. The production capacity has reached 60%. This helped meet the needs of companies located in the industrial zone of Gabes, in addition to a resumption of the export of this product.
