Tunisia: Increasing number of bookings in winter holidays, as French top list

Tourism indicators for the winter holidays are good, with a 12% increase in bookings compared to last year, said Houssem Ben Azouz, president of the Inter-Professional Federation of Tunisian Tourism.

In a statement to the Assabah newspaper, Ben Azouz explained that the French lead the list of foreign nationalities, followed by the Poles, then the Germans, the British and the Italians.

From January 1, 2025, Tunisia will require European tourists to have a passport valid for at least three months from the date of entry into the country.

This decision puts an end to the derogation in force until December 31, 2024, which allowed certain travelers to present an identity card accompanied by a travel book for group holidays.

This reform, reaffirmed by the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs, is part of an effort to bring entry conditions into line with international standards.

Although the visitors concerned represent a limited proportion of total arrivals (between 5% and 7%), travel agencies have stepped up their communication to inform their customers of this change.

The Tunisian authorities are stressing the importance of complying with the new rules to avoid being refused entry at the border.
