Exports of manufacturing industries reached 3384.7 MD at the end of February 2012, up 9.9% compared to the same period of 2011.
This increase is due mainly to increased exports of:
– Food industry +48.7% (307.2 against 206.6 MTD).
– Mechanical and electrical industries +16.8% (1313.5 MTD against 1534.2 MTD).
– Textile, garment and leather industries +6.4% (1047.4 MTD against 984.7 MTD).
In contrast, exports of chemical products and building materials, ceramics and glass industries continued to post declines, as follows:
– Chemicals: – 19% (43.8 MTD against 54.1 MTD).
– Building materials, ceramics and glass industries: – 26.9% (265.5 MTD against 363.3 MTD).
