Tunisia: industrial sector exports rise

Exports of the industrial sector have increased from 19,372.3 MD during the first nine months of 2016 to 22,076.3 MD in the same period of the year 2017, up 14%.

The industrial sector imported for 29,234.0 MD during the first nine months of 2017 against 24,784.4 MD during the same period 2016, recording an increase of 18%.

Therefore, the commercial balance of the industrial sector stands at -7157.7 MD against -5412.1 MD during the first nine months of 2016.

This is what was indicated by the Agency for the promotion of the industry and Innovation (APII) in its latest sectoral report.

Similarly, exports of the agri-food industry increased by 11.1%, from 1,444.9 MD to 1605.2 MD during the first nine months of 2017.

This is the same for the sector of textile and clothing industries with exports of about 4508.2 MD against 3932.1 MD during the first nine months of 2016, up 14.7%.

The same goes for the leather and footwear industries, whose exports grew 13.2% to 933.6 MD against 824.8 MD during the first nine months of 2016.

Similarly, exports of the various industries sector rose by 16.8% with 1,599 MD against 1,368.9 MD during the first nine months of 2016.

Industrial imports increased for all sectors. These increases ranged from 11.1% for the leather and footwear industries to 48.5% for the agri-food industry
