There was a deceleration in the volume of cheques issued, at the end of the first six months of the current year, compared with a sharp acceleration in the number of direct debits and stagnation in the number of credit transfers.
As regards cheques, 12.25 million cheques were issued in the first half of 2024, down 1.9% on the first half of last year, for a total amount of 61.75 billion dinars (+4.8%).
The cheque rejection rate stood at the end of last June at 1.45% in number, or more than 177 thousand cheques, and 2.33% in value, or 1.4 billion dinars.
More than 3.16 million direct debit transactions were carried out during the first six months of the year (+25%) for a value of 12 billion dinars (+20.4%), with a very high
rejection rate of 40.9% in number and 6.48% in value.
With regard to transfers, more than 16.9 million transactions were recorded (+0.65%) for a total amount of around 26.9 billion dinars (+8%) with a rejection rate of 0.12% in number and 0.11% in value.
