Tunisia: Over 3,000 Tunisians recruited abroad

Director General of the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT), Mohamed Blidi, said on Mosaique FM that the brain drain is a sensitive issue that requires debate and in-depth study.

Blidi pointed out that 3,198 Tunisians had been recruited abroad through ATCT by October 31, 2024 and that skilled workers in education and health were most in demand.

Tunisia has 26,000 workers abroad, 31% of them in the health sector and 37% in education. The rest work in various other sectors,’ he added.

Mohamed Blidi said that Germany is the country with the highest demand for Tunisian skills.

He added that the number of Tunisians going to the Gulf is decreasing, while European countries such as France and Italy, in addition to Germany, are increasingly asking for skilled workers.
