Tunisia: rate of tax pressure rises to 23.2% in 2021

The rate of tax pressure in Tunisia is 23.2% in 2021, against 22.7% in 2020 and 23.6% in 2019, according to the provisional results of the execution of the state budget at the end of last December.

This rate should rise to 25.4% in 2022, according to the finance law.

Excluding oil, the rate of tax pressure is reduced to 22.6% in 2021, against 22.3% in 2020 and 22.7% in 2019.

Tunisia’s tax revenues of Tunisia have increased by 12% last year to 30.4 billion dinars, against 27.1 billion a year earlier.

These revenues are composed of direct taxes to the tune of 12.7 billion dinars (+5.1%) and indirect taxes equal to 17.7 billion dinars (+17.5%) The tax revenue comes mainly from income tax (9.5 billion dinars), VAT (8.7 billion) and the tax on wages (6.4 billion).
