Les Ciments de Bizerte Company has published its annual accounts for 2023.
These accounts show a record net loss of 34.3 million dinars, compared with a deficit of 29 million dinars in 2022. This brings the cumulative losses of the state-owned company to 185 million dinars.
In 2023, activity was below normal production capacity. The cost of this under-activity was 12.6 million dinars for production sold and 0.6 million dinars for inventories.
The gross margin achieved in 2023 is -2.6 million dinars, compared to a margin of -3 million dinars in 2022, an improvement of 364 thousand dinars. This negative gross margin is mainly due to the lack of production.
Clinker production in 2023 will be 305,200 tons, compared to 710,398 tons in 2021 and 539,675 tons in 2022.
Financial expenses amounted to 14.1 million dinars in 2023, compared to 12 million dinars in the previous year, an increase of 2.1 million dinars.
This increase is mainly due to the rescheduling of certain loans in dinars and the dinarisation and rescheduling of loans in euros.
