Tunisia: taxation of large fortunes is a scandal (Chedly Ayari)

Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Chedly Ayari said that the tax on high incomes and large fortunes in Tunisia does not exceed 25%, which, he has added, is a scandal.

In an interview with weekly “Attariq Al Jadid,” he stressed that small wage-earners, including public servants and employees are those who bear the highest taxes, while owners of large fortunes are paying the least of them, well below their income.

He cited, in this regard, the example of developed countries, including Sweden where fortunes are subject to a tax of 80%.
