Tunisia: Tunisair improves its revenue by 29% to more than 1.2 billion dinars in 2017

The activity of national carrier Tunisair has continued its rise during the fourth quarter of 2017, bringing about an improvement of its indicators throughout the year, starting with the number of passengers transported.
The latter posted a growth of 16% at the end of last December to 3,502,475 passengers against 2,991,841 a year ago, thanks mainly to the charter + pilgrimage activity (+ 141%). The load factor thus went up from 71.4% in 2016 to 74.4% last year.
To this end, transport revenues improved by 29% to 1.28 billion dinars against 995.1 million dinars at the end of December 2016.
Nevertheless, all expenses increased in 2017. Fuel costs rose by 52% to 269 million dinars while staff costs increased by 7.6% to 225.8 million dinars, following the increase in the workforce to 3,765 people against 3,579 in 2016.
In addition, the company’s debt continued to grow in 2017 to reach 1.079 billion dinars against 1.015 billion at the end of December 2016.
In turn, the financial expenses increased to 13.36 million dinars against 12, 84 million a year ago.
