Tunisia: Trade deficit eases to TND 9,633.3 million at end-July 2024

The trade deficit narrowed to TND 9,633.3 million at the end of July 2024, compared with TND 10,225.8 in the same period of 2023.

The coverage rate increased by 1.4 points to 79.4% compared with the same period in 2023, according to the Foreign Trade at Current Prices for August 2024 released on Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

This deficit is mainly due to the deficit recorded with certain countries, such as China (TND 4,712.6 million), Russia (TND 3,295.3 million), Algeria (TND 2,214 million), Turkey (TND 1610.1 million), Greece (TND 890.2 million) and Ukraine (TND 861.3 million).

On the other hand, the balance of trade in goods recorded a surplus with other countries, mainly France (TND 3,255.1 million), Italy (TND 1,361 million), Germany (TND 1,332 million), Libya (TND 1,202.9 million) and Morocco (TND 149.9 million).

On the other hand, it should be noted that the trade deficit excluding energy narrowed to (TND 3,041.5 million) and that the energy deficit was (TND 6,591.7 million) compared to (TND 5701.4 million) in the first seven months of 2023.
