Tunisia: Tunisair turnover up slightly by 0.5% in 9 months

The turnover of national carrier TUNISAIR increased slightly by 0.5% to 1.222 billion dinars at the end of September 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to the airline’s activity indicators published on Monday by Tunis Stock Exchange.

The number of passengers carried rose by 3% to 1.981 million in the first 9 months of 2024, compared with 1.932 million a year earlier.

Average revenue per passenger (scheduled flights) fell from 513 dinars at the end of September 2023 to 501 dinars in September 2024.

On the other hand, average revenue per flight hour (charter) went up from 17671 dinars to 18031 dinars. Load factor remained stable at 73.8%.

The national carrier also recorded an improvement in fleet punctuality of 12 points to 48% compared to the first three quarters of 2023 (36%).

Personnel costs rose by 8%, despite a 5% reduction in the workforce due to contractual salary increases.

On the other hand, fuel costs fell by 5.8% in the third quarter of 2024 compared with the same period in 2023, following the fall in the price of a barrel of oil.

Debt fell by almost 7% as a result of the repayment of outstanding loans and the limitation of new borrowing.
