Tunisian businessmen to take part in the Tunisian –Cameroonian trade fair

Tunis, January 26, 2009- A delegation of Tunisian businessmen is set to visit Cameroon later in the week, among other things to take part in the Tunisian –Cameroonian trade fair jointly organized by the Tunisian Embassy in Douala and Cameroon’s ministry of commerce.

More than 20 Tunisian enterprises are part of the trade mission destined to make better known Tunisian products in the sectors of ICT, building and technology.

The move is in line with the frame agreement signed by Tunisia and Cameroon for the period 2009-2011, in the energy sector, as well as scientific and economic cooperation between both countries.

Tunisian companies are already involved in several projects in Cameroon. Oracle Tunisia recently achieved the networking of the banks pertaining to the Bank of Central African States, the Tunisian building company ETEP is currently working on fly over and several highway projects and several Tunisian consulting offices are also involved in the supervision and follow up of several projects in the country.

Cameroon is essentially an agricultural country, with coco, coffee and cotton as part of its main produce, however the country’s relatively rich mining and energy sector are increasingly attracting foreign companies.

The country also boasts interesting reserves of minerals such as bauxite, nickel, iron ore, cobalt and manganese.

Recently, the country’s government has signed several partnership agreements with Chinese companies for the exploitation of raw materials and minerals in the Eastern and Northern part of the country.
