A Turkish economic mission, made up of about 100 investo rs, is expected in Senegal next month, 20-21 April, PANA learnt Thursday from di p lomatic sources here.
The Turkish investors are experts in the fields of food-processing, energy, text ile and construction, said the Turkish ambassador in Senegal, Mr. Ali Kaya Savut.
The diplomat told newsmen that the foreign investors were particularly intereste d in the various investment potentials in Senegal.
“The economic exchanges between the two countries are always developing,” he exp lained, indicating that in 2008 the volume of economic transactions between Turk e y and Senegal reached US$ 92 million, or an increase of 40% over the figures for 2007.
The balance of exchanges is rather favourable to Turkey, he noted, and said Sene gal exported foodstuffs, minerals and industrial products to his country.
Also speaking, Makhary Diakhité, president of the Association of Senegalese and Turkish businessmen, said many Turkish investors in the textile industry wanted to explo re Senegal.
