Malta to boost business with Tunisia

Malta and Tunisia held bilateral talks on the occasion of the seventh session of the Maltese Tunisian Mixed Commission. Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg and Tunisian Foreign Affairs Minister, Abdelwaheb Abdallah discussed various matters including education, illegal immigration, agriculture, aquaculture, tourism and IT. The two sides also reviewed their trade relations and discussed ways and means of how these relations can be improved.

The Tunisian delegation was briefed about Malta’s successful experience in the sector of ICT, particularly with regard to the experience of the Smart City Project.

Dr Borg announced that a local company has entered into a joint-venture with a Tunisian company to start providing training on fire-fighting and occupational health and safety in Tunisia. Another local company has managed to strike a deal in order to export equipment producing alternative energy to Tunisia. These agreements have been reached thanks to the enhanced cooperation between the two countries towards more fruitful business relations.

The Maltese business community held over 120 meetings with 14 Tunisian companies present here in Malta over the past two days.
