Kuwait per capita income second amongst Arabs

Kuwait came second in the Arab world and 17th worldwide in regards to per capita income rates as stated by the World Bank’s report on per capita income for 2008.

The report said that Kuwaiti individuals had an annual income of $38,400 while Qataris came first in the region with a per capita annual income of $59,000. Qatar came in fifth worldwide.

The sources added that the report did not mention the UAE’s per capita income and said that Saudi Arabia came fourth in the Arab world and 53rd worldwide with a per capita income of $15,500.

The report also included a list of Arab and Middle Eastern economies that placed Kuwait in fifth place (55th worldwide) with a gross national income of $112.1 billion.

Egypt came fourth (50th worldwide) with a gross national income of $163.2 billion. The report also noted that Saudi Arabia’s gross national income was the first in the Arab world and 23rd worldwide at $457.6 billion.

Algeria came second at $173.8 billion (45th worldwide), followed by the UAE (49th worldwide) at $162.8 billion, Al-Jarida reported.

Worldwide, the report maintained that the USA came first with a GDP of $14.2 trillion, which is more than the combined GDP of the European Union ($13.5 trillion), which is comprised of fifteen countries.
