Tunisia’s external trade rose slightly. According to the latest figures from the National Statistics Institute (INS) for the first nine months of 2013, exports grew by 6.7% against an increase of 4% in 2012, while imports were reduced to 4.3% against an increase of 14.4% in 2012.
Tunisia’s external trade balance has recorded a deficit of 8,743.8 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) against 8,813 MTD in 2012 and 5,993 MTD in 2011.
Tunisia’s trade reached the value of 20,821.9 MTD at export and 29,565.7 at import during the first nine months of 2013, bringing about a 1.5-point improvement in the rate coverage of imports by exports to 70.4% from 68.9% in 2012.
