Tunisia: Norwegian solar power plant in Sidi Bouzid now in operation

Scatec ASA, a subsidiary of the Toyota Tsusho Group, announced that the 60-MW Sidi Bouzid solar power plant officially entered service on March 10, 2026, with retroactive effect from January 1, 2026.

This first Norwegian project in Tunisia is expected to generate stable and regular revenues through a 30-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG).

Scatec, which holds 51% of the plant, will sell the electricity produced to STEG.

Meanwhile, the Tozeur solar power plant, built in parallel by the same company with a similar capacity of 60 MW, is making technical progress ahead of its commercial commissioning planned for the first half of 2026.

The Norwegian company is also developing a third solar plant in Tataouine, also under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), a long-term contract between a renewable electricity producer and a buyer.
