Around 100 business meetings organized between Tunisian and Maltese companies

Around one hundred business meetings were organized between Tunisian and Maltese companies from 24 to 26 February, as part of a mission to explore Tunisia’s export offer on behalf of a Maltese delegation from the Malta Chamber of SMEs, the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) announced on Sunday.

The Maltese delegation included around ten companies operating in the financial, tourism, waste management, craft and agri-food sectors, among others.

These discussions will be followed by an online evaluation to assess export potential, analyze performance indicators and identify areas for improvement,” CEPEX said.

The mission also included institutional visits to Tunis and Sousse, culminating in a visit to an oil mill in Sidi Bouali, where a tasting of Tunisian olive oil was organized.

It is important to stress that the value of bilateral trade between Tunisia and Malta remains modest, not exceeding 247 million Tunisian dinars (MD) in 2024, with Tunisian exports to Malta amounting to MD 150 and imports to MD 97.

Trade is dominated by miscellaneous industries, which account for 80% of Tunisian exports to Malta and 72% of imports. Tunisia’s main exports to Malta include white cement, petroleum oils and bluefin tuna.

In terms of commercial positioning, Malta ranks 29th among Tunisia’s customers in 2024, accounting for 0.24% of total exports, and 47th among suppliers, accounting for 0.12% of total imports.

The Malta Chamber of SMEs has been representing Maltese small and medium-sized enterprises for over 75 years and has more than 7,000 members.
