BOAD to organise economic forum on West Africa-Asia partnership

The Lome-based West-African Development Bank (BOAD) will from 21 to 22 May organise a forum in the Togolese capital, Lome, aimed at establishing a new partnership between West Africa and Asia, sources close to the Institution told PANA on Wednesday.

According to a communiqué released in Lome, the forum is aimed at promoting the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) as a safe investment destination.

The forum is aimed at, among others, “bringing together African and Asian economic operators to create a new partnership dynamic; encourage partnerships and economic exchanges between African enterprises in the UEMOA zone and Asian firms; mobilise funding for the infrastructure of the UEMOA zone; and to build on Asian best practices to improve the development models of UEMOA countries”.

BOAD targets Asian countries such as China, India, Singapore and Malaysia which are investing in Africa.
