Chinese company to deliver 4 Nigerian int’l airport terminals in 20 months

Promising that the quality of work it will do in Nigeria will be of the highest international standard comparable to similar projects executed by the company in other parts of the world, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, (CCECC) said it will deliver Nigeria’s four new International Airport terminals within 20 months.

According to a press statement released by Mr. Joe Obi, the Special Adviser, Media, to Princess Stella Oduah, the Nigerian Minister of Aviation, the promise was made Tuesday by the CCECC President, Yuan Li, when a delegation of Nigerian Government officials paid him a courtesy call while inspecting facilities at the Corporate headquarters of the company in Beijing, China.

Yuan said the airport terminals’ construction remained a special project for the company, stressing that the company’s trade mark of unrivalled excellence would be brought to bear in the construction of the terminals in Nigeria.

Responding, Aviation Minister, Princess Oduah, said she was eagerly looking forward to the signing of the agreement and the completion of the projects in the next 18-20 months.

She said that the desire to have the best for Nigerian airports informed the decision to work with a reputable, world class construction firm like CCECC.

When completed, the Minister said the Nigerian International airports would take their rightful place in the world aviation map, and boost Nigeria’s position as the natural hub for commercial aviation business on the African continent.

According to the statement, Nigeria had sourced a US$500 million loan from China for the construction of the four new International terminals in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Kano.

President Goodluck Jonathan is currently leading a Federal Government business delegation to China on an investment drive.
