Tariffs on Tunisian exports to Africa to be removed by 2030

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) aims to create a unified African market encompassing 55 countries and nearly 1.5 billion people, in order to promote the free movement of trade among African states, said AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene.

Speaking to Express FM, Mene noted that many African economies have relatively small domestic markets, limiting their growth potential. He said the continental free trade area is designed to give businesses access to markets across Africa, thereby boosting exports, investment and new opportunities for economic growth.

In this context, the AfCFTA Secretary-General said the objective is to achieve the complete elimination of customs duties (0%) on all products by 2030, including industrial, agricultural and automotive goods, as part of the full implementation of the continental free trade agreement.
