Congo: Over 600 participants for business, investment forum

More than 600 participants are expected to attend the first business and investment forum in sub-Saharan Africa, tagged “Build Africa”, due to start Thursday in Brazzaville, Congo, to discuss and find ways of ending the continent’s infrastructure problem, Congolese government spokesman Bienvenu Okiemy said. “This two-day forum will see the attendance of more than 600 investors, economic experts and national and international policy makers, such as former Mexican President Vicente Fox and former Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, for a better definition of innovative solutions in order to resolve infrastructure deficit,” said Mr Okiemy. The deficit of infrastructure has not made Africa to be as competitive as it should have been in terms of investments. To meet the enormous challenges of financing the infrastructure that is essential to the development of Africa in general and the Congo in particular, the government intends to mobilise financial partners and energise the African stakeholders.
