Investors stake 1.90 billion naira on equities at Nigerian bourse

Investors on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (N SE) placed a total of 1.90 billion naira on 332.79 million shares in 6,218 deals at the close of trading on Monday.

Market capitalization also closed at 6.64 trillion naira while the main stock in dex, All-Share Index, ended at 30,050.89 points.

The banking sub-sector retained its lead on the activity chart with a turnover o f 117.6 million shares worth 1.002 billion naira in 3,717 deals. Trading in the s hares of Fidelity Bank Plc, First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB) and Guarantee Tr u st Bank Plc boosted the activity in the sector.

The insurance sub-sector followed on the activity chart with 46.7 million shares valued at 66.9 million naira in 543 deals. Linkages Assurance Plc, Goldlink Ins u rance Plc and Custodian And Allied Insurance Plc were the most traded shares in t he sector.

Information Communication and Telecommunication sub-sector came next on the acti vity chart with 73.1 million shares worth 227.63 million naira in 65 deals. High volume of trading in the shares of mass telecom innovation Nig Plc (MTI), Chams N ig Plc and Starcomms Nig Plc, boosted activity in the sector.

Oando Plc led the gainers table with a gain of N2.14 to close at N79.00. Guinnes s Nig Plc followed with N2.12 to close at N89.54 and United African Company of N i geria (UACN) closed at N31.23, gaining N1.48 in the process.

On the other hand, Total Nig Plc led the losers table with N10.72 to close at N2 03.69 while Chemical And Allied Nig Plc followed with N2.23 loss to close at N42 . 32.
