Jonathan declares Nigeria safe for foreign investors

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday declared that “foreign investors have nothing to fear because we are making significant progress in meeting the country’s security challenges”.

Speaking while receiving letters of credence from four new ambassadors to the country in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city, Jonathan said “Nigeria is a huge market, with many green areas waiting for investors. I urge you to prepare the ground for more robust economic relations between our countries.”

The four new ambassadors are Mr. Hans-Rudolf Hodel (Switzerland), Mr. Ashraf Abdelkader Elmorsi Salama (Egypt), Mr. Svante Kilander (Sweden) and Dr. Joachim Oppinger (Austria).

Jonathan urged the new Ambassadors to encourage more business delegations from their countries to visit Nigeria,

To the new Egyptian Ambassador, Jonathan said the two countries had a crucial role to play in the African Union, especially because of their strategic locations and population.

Responding, the new Ambassadors said they were impressed by the vast opportunities in Nigeria, and expressed their determination and commitment to improving trade and other mutually-beneficial relations with Nigeria.
