Libya: Oil production resumes at al-Fil, Western Libya

Oil production has resumed at the oil field of al-Fil (Western Libya) after nearly two months of blockage by protesting groups, an official of the Libyan national oil company (NOC), Mohamed al-Harairi, said on Wednesday.

“Production at the oil field of al-Fil (85,000 barrels/day) has resumed effectively,” said al-Harairi, stressing that the situation was not very clear for the oil field of al-Charara (South) where demonstrations are continuing. Al-Charara has capacity for 340,000 barrels/day.

NOC spokesperson said that Libya’s oil production on Wednesday reached 240,000 barrels/day.

The Libyan oil industry, the country’s main revenue earner, was disrupted by demonstrators which caused a drop in production to 250,000 barrels/day as against 1.5 million in normal time.
