Togo: WADB loans Benin 35 billion CFAF for road infrastructure

The West African Development Bank (WADB) and Benin have signed two loan agreements in Lomé for 35 billion CFAF to be used in the construction of roads, a statement issued by the bank said on Tuesday.

The first agreement is for a 17-km road work in Parakou to facilitate the movement of people and improvement in the environment and sanitation.

The second project is for the renovation and asphalting of 139.67 km roads in Comé-Lokossa-Dogbo; the Zounhoué-Athièmé-Togo border; Savalou-Tchetti-Togo border; Logozohè-Glazoué; and Djérègbe-Dja-Owodé-Nigerian border. The bank said these roads were aimed at “contributing to develop the agricultural potentialities in the zones and ensuring regional integration with neighboring countries”.

The WADB deputy chairman, Bassary Touré, and the Beninese minister of Economy and Finance, Jonas Gbian, signed the documents.
